Am I a horrible mother for hoping and wishing that I have a little girl this time around? Am I ever worse for not wanting another little boy?
It's a travesty, I tell you! But I can't help it. I want to be able to braid someone's hair SO BADLY that I just can't stand it.
Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of being a mother. But I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would have two boys. I always thought that I would either have a mixed bag of tricks, or all girls. Imagine my surprise when I had not one, but TWO little boys. Neither has long hair, nor do they like to be groomed, which means that I don't get to even PLAY with any hair (never mind the braiding).
(Where I learned to create magnificent braids at an early age!)
I have always dreamed of dressing up a little girl in the cutest little outfits around. And my own mother gave me about five of my little baby dresses that I wore, that I have help on to through having two little boys, in the hopes that one day I'll have a daughter.
None of this means that I love my little boys any less. They are the HIGHLIGHT of my life, and what makes living so rewarding and worth it. At the end of the day, when my eldest tells me that he loves me so, SO much I can't help but melt and forget about anything negative that has happened in life that day.
But I feel like something is missing from our family dynamic. Something to soften the rough-and-tumble attitude that little boys bring, and something to make the heart of my husband just melt. I can't help but desire that this baby is a little girl. In the meantime, the next two and a half weeks until April 9th rolls around are going to be the LONGEST of my life!
I might have to put those little dresses away forever, and I'm OK with that. Honestly, I am. It's important to not lose sight of what's truly important in the grand scheme of things, and that's having a healthy child. But for now I'm just going to keep hoping and wishing.
